A Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) holds the key responsibility of ensuring the medical office environment runs smoothly and efficiently. They are skilled multi-taskers and help provide a positive, welcoming environment. CMAAs act as intermediaries between patients and medical providers—explaining doctors’ recommendations and instructions and answering questions.

The UWF Certified Medical Administrative Assistant training course will prepare you for the National Healthcareer Association exam and open up an expansive range of opportunities for employment in physician offices, hospitals, surgery centers, assisted living facilities, dental offices, home healthcare agencies, mental health facilities and even insurance companies and consulting firms.

As a CMAA, you will perform a variety of tasks requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work well as a member of a team. In this program, you will gain proficiency in office administration, clinical duties and the communication skills necessary for entry-level employment as a CMAA, including:

  • Greeting patients and facilitating the check-in process
  • Answering calls and scheduling appointments
  • Maintaining electronic medical records
  • Completing insurance forms
  • Managing office correspondence
  • Coordinating hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Assisting with billing and bookkeeping

This 13-week program consists of 78 hours of live, virtual instruction and homework study time.
