UWF Academic Credit for Opwall Course Summer 2013

Class Description

The UWF Opwall Course is for high school students (ages 16-17). The program consists of a two week project on biodiversity monitoring in one or more habitats coupled with academic courses in Indonesia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Guyana, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Egypt, and Transylvania. Students who satisfactorily complete the Course (based on exam results, a field diary, a research project essay, and an assessment of student performance in the field), and who are subsequently admitted to the University of West Florida (UWF) will be awarded 3 credits of course work toward a degree in Marine Biology or Biology. Whilst the UWF course credits are only accepted toward Marine Biology or Biology degrees at UWF, you can submit a summary of the course completed and your completion certificate with grade (which will be provided by the university) when applying for relevant degrees at other US universities and they may or may not count it as relevant credit towards your degree.

Tuition for this course is the same for in-state and out-of-state students.

NOTE: Students must enroll for the expedition directly with Opwall (http://www.opwall.com/booking/expressing.php). Those students wanting to receive 3 hours of credit towards a degree in Marine Biology or Biology at UWF, also need to register here through UWF Continuing Education.
